Mr. Keesino, delegate of the Waitemata Boating Club to the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, at the meeting this morning lodged an appeal against the decision af the Association on Saturday, in awarding the first place in the champion four-oared gig race at Auckland .Regatta to the Auckland Rowing Club crew. As the Association have decided that Barrett, one of the Auckland Club's crew, is a professional," it wouid appear that VVaite- j mata should take the first prize, if they c.ioose to appeal for first prize. The trial fours for the medals presented by Mr. John Marshall to the City Rowing Club ; were rowed last evening. l n the first heat- , H. Cooke (stroke), G. Hartnoll, C P McCov ' and P. Brewin (bow) met W. Lonergan (stroke), K. Eudean, J. Fernandez, and E ■ Winthrop (bow), and defeated them after a 1 well-contested race. In the second heat, W. 1 Phipps (stroke), E. Young, A. E. Ivil.'ami J E. Allen (bow), met M. P Foley (stroke), W. jolan, W. Cox, and F. Harding (bow), and i after a good race were victorious. A.
