AUCKLAND AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.

A FULL meeting of the committee of the Auckland Amateur Athletic Club was held at the British Hotel last night, when several communications from the Association, with reference to sending the proposed team to England, and the expense connected therewith, were received and considered. After a considerable amount of discussion, in the course of which the whole question was carefully considered from all standpoints, it was unanimously resolved, " That the committee., whilst adhering to their already expressed opinion, tender the Association half the profits of the meeting on the 19th March, conditional on the representatives competing : or a donation of £20, including a small surplus from benefit meeting." An application was received from intending competitors in the walking events at the Auckland Autumn Meeting, requesting that the two-mile walk should be struck out, and that a one-mile and a three-mile walk be placed upon the programme in its place. This was agreed to. DUNEDIN A.A. ASSOCIATION. Dunedin, Monday.At a meeting of the Dunedin Amateur Athletic Association, attended by about 18 members, the proposal to send an athletic team to England was discussed. The general opinion appeared to be, that as the matter had been decided against the wishes of the club, it would be advisable to give the project all the support possible, but at the same time strong objection was taken to sending L. A. Cuff as manager. Eventually the matter was adjourned for a full meeting The present lady champion lawn tennis player, Miss Mowbray, has decided not to play this season, as she has not fully recovered from the effects of her accident. The winner of the match between Miss Spiers and Miss Corrie, which is to take Elace this afternoon at Parnell, will therefore b the champion for this year. Play will < commence about four o clock, and it is hoped , that all interested in lawn tennis will be ( present. _ j The entries for the Ashburton Amateur Swimming Club meeting, to be held tomorrow (Wednesday) have closed with a * total of 148, the largest on record for a snni- J lar gathering in the colony. The following ' have entered for the quarter-mile champion- < shin : —A. IS. Duthie, H. Bailey (Auckland ; S. C.), A. Lightband, Geo. H. Hobbs (East i Christchurch Amateur S.C.), VV. Crow (Dunedin), G. Jackson, S. J. Denham (Christchurch S. C.), A. J. _ Midler (Ashburtou ' Amateur S. C.). The visitors will be entertained at a dinner and smoke concert in the evening at Henry's Commercial Hotel. Great preparations have been made for the meeting, and a half-holiday has been proclaimed.
