Our Waitakerei correspondent writes : — On the 9th instant a horse belonging to Mr. J. P. Sinclair, storekeeper, Swanson, was straying on the railway lino and got caught on the cowcatcher by the incoming train. The horse, which was a young one and a great favourite, was so injured that it had to be destroyed. The line near Swanson is altogether unprotected by fences, and the wonder is that accidents are not more frequent. |
