OPAHEKE ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting was held on Saturday, the 9th instant. Present: Messrs. Kiddle (chairman), Dunn, and Markhain. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Mr. Nobbs waited on the Board, asking to have a bridge erected where one had beeu washed away. Agreed to inspect the same. The clerk was instructed to apply to the Governor for Crown grants of the quarry reserve and recreation ground. It was decided to call for tenders for carting and spreading the metal lying at Maketu; also for repairing some bad places on the main road. The clerk was instructed to write to Mr. McDowell, urging him on with his contract. Mr. Priestly waited on the Board asking if the Board would give him any puriri on the road leading to his farm if he paid for the surveying of the road. After some discussion about the value of timber, it was agreed to pay £1 towards the cost of survey, providing Mr. Priestly pay the balance and get a plan of the survey signed by the etiief surveyor. It was agreed to call for tenders for blinding and backing metal at Mr. Bywater's, for cutting and clearing a track through the bush at Paparata, and for a large bridge near Mr. Wilson's. A letter from the SurveyorGeneral was read relating to a deviation through Mr. Phelan's property. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the clerk for him to deal with as required. Attention was called to a hole in one of the large bridges in the valley. Agreed to put a man on to repair it.—[Own Correspondent.]
