FIRE IN GRAHAM-STREET.
An* alarm of fire was rung out about halfpast nine o'clock last night, winch proved to be located in a stable on -the promises of Mr. Halstead, veterinary surgoon, in Graham-street, just off Victoria-street West. The fire was first noticed by a man named Brennan, who lives in the neighbourhood, and he gave the alarm to Mrs. Halstead, who immediately telephoned to the Fire Brigade Station. In a very short time the brigade, under Superintendent Hughes, was on tho spot, and with very little difficulty tho conflagration was extinguished. The damage done was not very serious, thanks to the prompt action token. It consisted almost entirely, in the destruction of about 40 pigeons, which were kept in the stable, together with a few sacks of oats and chaff, and a quantity of straw. In addition to this the stable was considerably charred on the inside. The origin of tho fire is unknown. Mr. Halstead's son
-was in tho stable at five o'clock in tho evening, when he fixed up his horse for the night, and left .everything apparently all right. Ho was unable to throw any light on tho occurrence. Tho building was insured, but we could not ascertain for what amount. - • '
