THE POLICE AND CHARITABLE AID.
[by telegraph.— association.]
Wellington, Wednesday. For some time the police have been supplying the Charitable Aid Board with roports upon the character and position of recipients of aid. The Board found this a great help in discriminating relief, and the chairman characterised them at last meeting as a credit to the force. They showed that the ratepayers' money was not being wasted. As there are no less than 170 of these reports they involved a heavy amount of gratuitous work, and in recognition tho Board passed a special vote of thanks to Inspector Thomson and his men.
