[by. TELEGRAPH. association.] Gkkymodth, Thursday. ; A meeting of the Railway Committee this afternoon was largely attended.:
Resolutions to the following effect were passed :—Having considered Mr., Seddou's different telegrams re the deviation difficulty of .- opening, that the only objection the Minister has to recommend assent is that the County Council has not yet complied with the terms of the Act of 1890, by entering into a contract with the Midland Company to widen the road bridge culverts from Pounanui to Lake Brunner and providing a ; steamer, this meeting /requests his Worship the Mayor to telegraph to the Hon. Mr. boddon, to ask whether he will advise the Governor to give his assent immediately to the deviation, without waiting for Parliatriontto meet, if the County Council comply with the terms of the Act and Mr. Seddon's letter to the Council, dated May 2nd last. A resolution thanking the Christohurch Railway League for their assistance and co-operation was also carried unanimously. • " ""
