Ix the Resident Magistrate's Court this afternoon, the case of Lieutenant-Colonel Butts (a late commandant of the Wellington district) versus Salvadore Cumino, claim £21 lis, was heard. The defendant was until recently bandmaster to the Wellington Garrison Band, and was sued for the value of overcoats supplied to the members of the band. The Resident Magistrate gave judgment for the defendant, on the grounds that he was not responsible, us he was not in the same position as the captain of a corps.
