• TATTERS ALL'S CLUB RACES. . The annual race meeting,; held under the' auspices of the Auckland Tattersall's Club, took place on Saturday at the Takapuna Jockey Club's course, Devonport, and was well attended. Amongst those who were present were several of the officers from the warships. The weather was fine, and the turf in excellent condition. The meeting was conducted with great satisfaction by tho officers of the club. Mr. E. D. Halstead, the starter, performed his duties admirably, whilst Mr. R. Garrett was an efficient clerk of the scales, and Mr. 11. 11. Hayr, the secretary, was untiring. Mr. Hunter's Artillery _ Band rendered a good programme of music. In the Cup, the Somnus mare, Minnie, owned by Mr. McMinamin, lost ground almost immediately the flag fell, and evidently could not gallop, though the rider, Priest, whipped hard all the way for one round of the course, when he pulled up. Mr. Halstead examined the mare, and foftud that her hip had slipped. It is supposed that the accident occurred at the start of he race. The following are the results of the racing:— Handicap Maiden Plate of 25sovs; the owner of the second horse to receive ssovs from the stake. One mile. Mr. F. J. Lyons'b in Tuna, syrs, 7st lib, including 31b overweight (Priest) ... 1 Mr. B. Hurdle Race of 45sovs; the owner of the second horse to receive ssovs from the stake. One mile and three-quarters. Mr. H. C. Tonics' b g Nap, by Don Juan, aged, lOst (Burns) 1 Mr. A. McMillan's rn g Bit-o'-Blue, a^ed, lOst 51b, including 31b overweight (Marshall) ••• , -2 Mr. J. Wilson's b g General, aged, 9st oAll), including 3A lb overweight (Fergus) 3 Shotover (lOst.llb, including 51b overweight) also started. General took the lead when the flag fell, and was first past the stand, a length in front of Nap, behind whom, two*, lengths away, was Shotover, and Bit-o'-Blue last. Nap was in front as they ran into the straight the second time, whilst General, who was second, was about eight lengths in front of Bit-o'-Blue. The latter made his run at the back of the course, but though he passed General he could not get on terms with Nap, who led into the straight, and coming on with plenty of running, won by a length and a-half, General third, about 15 lengths behind Bit-o'-Blue, and Shotover also a good distance away. Dividend, £2 12s. Tattersall's Club Cup of GOsovs; the owner of the second horse to receive ssovs from the stake. One mile and a-half. Mr. W. Robertson's ch m Lcorina, aged, by Leolinus— 9st 4lb (Taylor) 1 Mr. J. Forth's b c The Dreamer, 3yrs, 7st Gib (Golding) ... 3 Mr. N. Dickey's blk g Try Fluke, aged, 7st 101b (Pennall) _ ... ••• 2 The other starters were Ingorina (Sst 121b), Tamora (7st Gib), and Minnie (7st). The colours of Tamora and Ingorina were first to be seen in the lead, Try Fluke and The Dreamer getting away badly. Minnie dropped out of the ruck at once, and though Priest, who was riding the marc, flogged hard, she would not rejoin the field, and was pulled up when one round of the course had been travelled. Try Fluke led into the straight the second time, and opposite the stand his immediate followers were Ingorina and Leorina, The Dreamer next, in company with Tamora. A quarter of a mile from home The Dreamer was running even with Try Fluke, at the head of affairs, but at the turn into the straight Leorina, having everything her own way, took command, and finished an easy winner by two lengths. Dividend, £2 16s. It was found that Minnie, who so suddenly fell out of the race, had slipped her hip. Mr. Halstead states that the mare's injuries are serious, and that she may have to be destroyed. Selling Race, of 30sovs. Six furlongs. Mr. F. Stenning's b g lronbark, syrs, by Capapie, 7st lib (Gallagher) ... ... 1 Blarney, aged, 7st 111) (Priest) ... ... 2 Moderator, aged, Sst lib (Hodson) 3 Captive also ran. Bradley and Co.'s ch g Justice, syrs, 9st 111b, including 41b over-weight (Byers) 3 Ingorangi (lOst 61b), Bit o' Blue (lOst 61b), and General (9st 71b) also ran. The horses went away at a very slow pace, Justice in the front, General and Nap together seeond, and 13it-o'-Blue next. As they ran into the fields at the back of the stand Nap took the lead, whilst Justice was second and Hopeful Kate third, Bit-o'-Blue baulking at one of the hurdles. Nap led over the water-jump, and he, Justice, and Hopeful Kate were about fifteen lengths in front of Ingorangi when the horses were again on the flat, Bit-o'-Blue, who had been persuaded to continue, being about fifth. The lead was held by Justice and Nap alternately in the next round, but hen they ran up the hill for the third time Justice was tiring, and was five lengths behind Hopeful Kate, who was on close terms with the leader, Nap, Ingorangi, though apparently bounding over the ground in good style, having failed to materially lessen the gap which separated him from this trio. Nap led over the water jump and on to tiie flat, and whilst Hopeful Kate at one time looked dangerous in the run home, Nap was never really in difficulties, and _he eventually won by two lengths, Justice third, ten lengths behind Hopeful Kate; then came Bit-o'-Blue and Ingorangi in straggling order. Dividend, £4 93.

Flying Stakes of 30sovs; the owner of the second horse to receive osovs from the stakes. Three-quarters of a mile. Mr. J. McHugh's c Master Pat, 3yrs, by King Cole— Allanah, 7st 61 (Moore) 1 Mr. M. Won rather easily by a length, Bulrush beating Macaroni by about the same distance for second place. Dividend, £1 9s. Welter Handicap of 30sovs. One mile. Mr. B. Thompson's blk h Warrior, 4yrs, by Ingomar —Fanny Fisher, 7st 101b (Hammond) 1 Mr. W. Robertson's ch m Leorina, aged, list 101b (Taylor) 2 Mr. Lyons' b m Tuna, Gyrs, 7st 121b (Priest) 3 Tainora, Try Fluke, Nigger, Octopus, and Nap were the other starters. When the horses settled to work Warrior took the lead, with Octopus, Leorina, and Nigger in prominent places. Entering the straight Warrior was still in front, and staving off the rush of different horses he had a length's lead halfway down the straight, when Leorina came with a run which was just too late, Warrior lasting long enough to win by about a head ; Tuna third, four lengths from Leorina. Dividend, £5 9s. DARGAVILLE RACES. The following acceptances and nominations for the various events of the Dargaville races were received on Saturday night by Mr. H. 11. Hayr. The brood mare My Idea (dam of Nelson) died yesterday at Whitford Park. Mr. E. D. Halstead, for whom a message had been sent to town, only arrived a few minutes before the mare succumbed. • A post mortem examination made by Mr. Halstead revealed that the colon was very much diseased, which brought on stoppage of the intestines, and eventually inflammation. My Idea, who was foaled in 1872, was got by Yattendon from Ladybird by Boiardo, and along with her foal (Nelson), was imported to Auckland about ten years ago by Major George. She subsequently passed in to the hands of the New Zealand Stud Company and at the dispersal of the Sylvia Park Stud in January last My Idea, along with her colt foal by Ingomar, was purchased by Mr. L. D.Nathan for 130 guineas.
