THE TE AROHA ELECTION PETITION.
MR. W. S. ALLEN DISQUALIFIED. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENTS. Wellington*, Saturday. The decision of the Judges (the Chief Justice and Mr. Justice Conolly) who heard the To Aroha election petition, has been forwarded to the Speaker. The precise terms of the judgment will not be known for some days, but it is" understood hereto be in accordance with the information I was able to send you a day or two ago, namely, to declare the seat vacant and to inhibit Mr. Allen from qualification to enter Parliament for twelve months. It is also stated here that Colonel Fraeer will not Stand again for the seat, and that the writ for a new election will nob be issued before Parliament meets. Hamilton, Saturday. The announcement that Mr. W. S. Allen has nob only lost his seat, but been disqualified from sitting in Parliament for twelve months, was received here with very general dissatisfaction and . regret. Mr. Adam Porter states that he has been asked by many electors to come forward for the vacant seat, but says that he must have a couple of days to come to a determination. In any case a strong effort will,be made to bring out a settler as a candidate, and the name of Mr. (Jhepmell, of Waitoa, is freely spoken of.
