THE A.J.C. MEETING.

THE ALL-AGED STAKES.

Very great interest will be centred in the third day of the Australian Jockey Club's Meeting, which takes, place to-day at Bandwick, by reason of the prospect of Carbine having to do battle with Bungebah, Marvel, Highborn, and the cream of the two-year-olds in the All-Aged Stakes, which event is run over a mile at weight-for-age. Bungebah is on all hands held to be one of the fastest sprinters that has ever figured on the Australasian turf, and as lie is entitled to the 51b gelding allowance, that circumstance it is held should bring him and the champion well together. Marvel has amply demonstrated that he is entitled to a place amongst the first company in the land, and his splendid performance in the Doncaster Handicap on Saturday last, in which race he carried the steadier of 9st 121b into third place, only being beaten a short neck in the record time (lm. 405.) shows very plainly that the champion will need to be quite himself if he is to preserve his unbeaten certificate this season. Then again the two - year - olds Penance, Stromboli. and Oxide may be expected to show a bold opposition as they nave each proved themselves winners. The following horses will probably compose the field, and their imposts will be found attached : — st lb st lb Carbine ... 9 1 Penance ... 7 1 Marvel ... 9 0 Stromboli ... 7 1 Bungebah ... SlO Oxide ... .71 Highborn ... SlO Alliance ... 7 1 Press Association.—Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Sydney, April 1. For the All-Aged Stakes to be run tomorrow Carbine is a strong favourite at 2 to 1 on, 3to 1 is offered against Marvel, 10 to 1 Bungebah.
