THE LATE SIR W. FITZHERBERT.
[by TELEGRAPH. — correspondent.] Wellington, Wednesday. There is much feeling expressed here that Lord Onslow was in no way represented at Sir Win. Fitzherbert's funeral. Some claim for the family of the deceased statesman the recognition of Lord Onslow as Governor of the colony, others that of private friendship and personal regard. The Post this evening publishes the following :—"A cable message has been received by Sir Win. Fitzherbert's family from tho Right Hon. the Secretary of State for the Colonies (Lord Knutsford) expressing his own regret and that, of Her Majesty's Ministers at tho death of so distinguished a colonist, and their profound sympathy with his family. Considerable comment was made yesterday and to-day in town at c His Excellency the Governor noither attending nor being represented at tho funeral."
