New Zealand Herald Office. Friday evening. {The Customs duties to-day amounted to £471 Os lid. Mr. Thornes, Land Agent, 81, Queenstreet, reports the sale of the following ' properties during the week through his agency :—Shop and cottage in Victoriastreet, with 24 feet frontage, for £350 cash, [ on behalf of Mr. Philips; fruit farm at Henderson, on behalf of Mr. Bullock, for £400; 1 a fruit farm at Lucas' Creek, leased at £52 per annum, with purchasing clause of £1050; ' the goodwill of a village homestead section for £60; and several leases of city and suburban properties. Messrs. Arthur and Huddle's Weekly REPORT.—Business has been active. Produce has been in good supply, with a fair demand for most lines. Potatoes are at about last week's values. Onions in better demand at about £7. Fresh vegetables have'been in good supply and have sold well. Cheese is slow of sale. We quote price at about £4 to £4 5s for first quality ; inferior from £2 upwards Kidneys are worth £4 10-, and for a superior sample 5s to 10s more. Aitken's MARKET REPORT for the week ending January 24:—A largo business has been done, both privately and by auction, the usual produce sales held, and very largely attended, with keen competition. Friday's sale lasted from eleven a.m. to half-past seven p.m., with crowded attendance and brisk competition to the tinish, and all lines were successfully got through. The supplies all round have been heavy. In the poultry department all pens were tilled ; prices ruled somewhat lower than at previous week's sales: First-class table fowls realised from Is "d to 2s 3d ; medium lots, Is 4d to Is Cd; poor, old, and small, Is to Is 3d ; chicks, Sd to Is 2d : roosters, well grown, and in conditio. Is Sd to 2s sd; small and poor, Is Id to Is Cd; purs-bred variety fowls, Is 9d to 3s; ducks, Is 4d to Is lOd ; young ducklings, Is to Is 3d ; geese, 2s Cd to 3s 3d ; turkeys, gobblers, 3s Cd to 6s 3d; hens, 2s Cd to 3s 3d ; canaries, 2s to 8s ; pigeons, lOd to Is 3d. Pigs came to hand in large numbers, for well-bred lots there w.us a good demand ; inferior lots neglected ; good voung Berkshires and Yorkshires, from 9s to 13s 9d ; medium lot-,. In produce good quantities quitted for shipment: Potatoes, plentiful, at somewhat lower values—private sa.'es for prime samples in quantities, £4 5s to £4 10s,; and up to 5s for small lots. Auction prices ruled from Ss !)d to 4s for good samples, and Is 6d to 3s for poor lots. Cow potatoes in active demand at 25s to 27s Cd per ton. Onions in early part of week were short of demand for shipping orders at Jd to Id. Iriday: supplies were large, anil, inconsequence, of full supply of seed kinds, potato onions are now entirely out of demand at 2s Cd to Ss per cwt ; garlic, 3d to 3Jd ; peas, 5Jd to lod per peck : beans 4ki to 7Jd ; other vegetables in full supply at good values. In grain, one line of Waikato wheat (last season's) quitted for milling at 3s 9d. A consignment of T uininga maize to hand quitted at 3s 2d for wholesale parcels, and is Gd for retail lots, ex store. In dairy produce, full supply. Butter, fresh, 3Jd to 6Jd ; eggs, lOd to Is Id ; keg butter overstocked with no demand except at pastry prices ; bacon, prime lots scarce and much wanted at Cid to 7id ; inferior plentiful at ljd to 3d; hams, 5d to 7d ; lard, 2jd to 3d ; cheese, several large parcels quitted at 2Jd to sd. Stocks light in fruit. A large supply of good quality of all kinds : there has been a good demand, and for recognised brands of all sorts a better average price has been obtained.
