The New Zealand Trust andi Loan Company will declare a dividend of 10 per cent. ELECTION OF A HOME RULER. London, January 22. The election for the Hartlepool seat in the House of Commons, rendered vacant by the death of Mr. T. Richardson, Liberal Unionist, took place today, resulting in the return of Mr. Furness, a Home Rule supporter, who defeated Mr. Gray, a Unionist, by 298. The promises given by Mr. Furness during the election secured for him the support of the labour unions. MR. BRADLAUGH'S CONDITION. London, January 21. Mr. Bradlaugh is worse. THE JAMAICA EXHIBITION. A meeting at Boston resolved to petition the President to veto the Silver Coinage Bill. THE WELSH GOLDFIELDS. London, January 21. The decision of the Appeal Court re* strains Mr. W. Pritchard Morgan, M.P., from working the goldtields in Wales without a license. ANTWERP WOOL SALES. Antwerp, January, 21. At the wool sales to-day, 4300"bales were offered, of which 3200 were sold, including 360 bales of Australian out of 500 offered. The attendance was limited, and owing to the small quantities offered prices have fallen 10 centimes on those realised at the October sales.
