MR. HOWARTH'S LETTER TO THE ROTORUA NATIVES.
[fir TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] Rotorua, Thursday. I have seen the letter of Mr. Howarth, solicitor, Wellington, to the natives here, and ib is in the exact terms as published by you on Tuesday. The version given by your "Wellington correspondent is incorrect. Several Europeans here have seen the letter, and it most certainly asks the natives why they did not send a warrant and have the Treasurer and Native Minister arrested for keeping back their rents for the Rotorua township, as they had right on their side and the Government had not. No mention whatever is made in the letter about the Under-Secretary to the Native Department.
