ILLEGAL EXPENDITURE.
[BY TELEGRA PH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] D(Jxkdin, Wednesday. At the City Council to-nighb a letter was received from the Solicitor-General calling upon councillors to make good the sum of £73 15s, including £11 os reception of the Governor, £10 refund part wholesale license fee, and some short collections. The city solicitor gave the opinion that the first two were recoverable. The Mayor offered to pay them, but'the matter was referred to the Financial Committee, and if paid ' sum will be voted to the Mayor as salary,
