MASONIC.
The first meeting of Lodge Ponsonby, under the New Zealand Constitution, was held on Tuesday night in Ponsonby Hall. R.W. Brother M. Niccol, Grand Superintendent for Auckland (in the absence from town through pressing business engagement of R.W. Master Brother Forrest), was in the chair, and congratulated the lodge on the step they had taken in forming the New Zealand Grand Lodge. There was a good attendance of brethren and visitors, and in addition to tho routine business, thanks were passed for the many handsome gifts of regalia, furniture, etc., givon by various members of tho craft to the lodge, among these being a most massive solid silver square and compasrc of New Zealand eilver, and made by a colonial-born Mason, the gift of a member of the Coromandel lodge. After two brethren had been proposed for initiation, tho lodge closed in due form. Lodge Manukau, New Zealand Constitution, had their monthly meeting on Wednesday night, the W. Brother A. S. Russell and W. H. Cooper, A.G. Secretary, attending on behalf of Grand Lodge. Brother Bruford was in the chair. There was one initiation, and five balloted for initiation, and two for affiliation to the lodge. Addresses were given by tho Grand Lodge officers during the course of the evening. Lodge Papukura, Now Zealand Constitution, also had their meeting on Wednesday night, and was well attended by members and visitors of other lodges.
