A PRISONER FIRED AT.

SYDNEY, September 4. A draper named Jamieson made application to-day to be admitted to see a prisoner confined in Darlinghurst Gaol. His request was granted. On being taken to the man's cell, he suddenly drew a revolver and fired two shots at him, neither of which took effect. No reason has been assigned for the deed.
