The schoolbuilding, Hukerenui North, was finished at the end of last month. The contract was accepted on January 17 last, and four months were allowed for the completion of the job, but, owing to the contractors (Messrs. Holman and Wolf, of Kamo) having the bank at YVhangarei to finish, and afterwards a public hall to erect at Hikurangi for Mr. Rolleston, it was not until the 13th of May that they found time _to turn their attention to the school building here. According to the specifications, the timber to be used for the building had to be stacked for six weeks previous to using, but this condition was not adhered to, and when the secretary of the school committee saw the building being erected he thought it his duty to commuufcate the fact to the Board of Education. This caused a " storm in a teacup," but had the effect of speedily bringing an inspector on the scene, who reported that the timber, having been cut from a dry kauri, was as well seasoned as could be expected at this season of the year. The school is now completed and well finished. The inspector was expected here to pass the building a fortnight ago, but has not yet j arrived. Correspondent.] I
