DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB. [HY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION".[ Dunedin, Monday. The Dunedin Jockey Club committee have prepared the programmes for the coming season. They propose to give £10,500 in stakes at five meetings to be held during the year, which sum lias been apportioned as follows : —Hunt Meeting, £GOO ; Spring, £3010; Autumn, £3720; Anniversary, £935; May, £1025. The programme for the Spring Meeting, is much the same as that for the Exhibition Meeting, except for the Exhibition Cup the Otago Cup is substituted, to which OOOsovs is added. The fourth day is again mainly devoted to trotting races. The D.J.C. has received 10 nominations for the Champion Stakes at the coursing meeting, 4S for the Maiden Stakes, and 27 for the Sapling Stakes. THE NEW ZEALAND CUP. Christchurch papers to hand show that there has been some spirited speculation over the New Zealand Cup. A commission thrown into the market in favour of Mr. Collan's representative, Jet d' Eau, has had the effect of sending the son of Cadogan to the top of the quotations, and 100 to 14 is now the best offer against him. It is stated that altogether the Napier horse has been backed to win about a thousand. Mr. Butler's three-year-old, Craekshot, has also been claiming good support, and is quoted second favourite at 100 to 12. Merrie England, Medallion, Dudu, Wolverine, and St. Andrew are each quoted at 100 to 10, and Tirailleur and Occident at 100 to 9. RACING STATISTICS. A sale of a very varied collection of statuary and works of art is announced by Messrs. Arthur and Buddie for to-morrow. The goods are on exhibition in lower Queen-street, and comprise a large assortment of figures, busts, vases, urns, Mosaic work, etc. The articles are all from the works of Messrs. Scheggi Bros., wellknown sculptors of Florence, who have gained a large number of prizes during recent years at various Continental exhibitions. The goods have been brought to New Zealand by Signor Giulio Cecchmi, who has displayed them in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as at the Dunedin Exhibition. They are well worthy of inspection, some of the large pieces containing some excellent work, especially a couple of busts in Carrara marble of Paganini with his violin and a Roman girl playing a mandolin. Two statuettes, entitled Autumn and Summer, are also very good, while a couple of large ornamental urns, very richly embellished with flowers and fruit, also attracted much attention yesterday. Smaller articles, vases, photo frames, chessboards, fruit, fountain, and fish bowls are very numerous, and this class of articles of vertu being rare in the colonies, tb'ey will doubtless command a ready sale. ;I j
