CITY SCHOOLS COMMITTEE.
Tmc Auckland City Schools Committee met yesterday evening. Present: Messrs. Blades (chairman), Crowther, Farrell, Clover, Usaber, and Dr. Walker. The Chairman said that many of the pupils of the city schools, as well as teachers, were absent through influenza. The question of the damage to Mr. Sutherland's fence, by pupils of the Nelson-street school, was referred to Mr. Farrell to arrange for repairs. Mr. Cronin wrote stating that the damage was very trifling. An application was received that William S. WhitJey, fifteen years of age, bo admitted into one of the schools. The matter was referred to the chairman and Mr. Worthing ton. Mr. Grant asked for permission to conduct an evening class in the Wellesley-street school. The application was granted, the Chairman and Mr. Crowther to arrange with Mr. Grant for the payment of the gas, cleaner, etc. A good deal of routine business was transacted.
