THE NEW PLYMOUTH MURDER.
[by telegraph.—press association.] New Plymouth, Thursday. At the inquest to-day John H. Still, storekeeper, Opunake, stated he had never purchased any boots from the Egmont Boot Factory. The prisoner had stated that he purchased boots from Mr. Still, of Opunake, and this evidence was to show that Still had never had any boots of the Egmont Factory make for sale. He did not remember ever selling any boots to Mahi Kai. W. H. Toogood, Pihama, stated he knew Mahi Kai. He did not sell or give a pair of drawers to Mahi Kai. The prisoner had stated that he got the drawers he was wearing when arrested from Toogood. C. F. Mills stated that he saw Maloney with a purse like the one produced. The inquest is still proceeding.
