THE DUNEDIN FARMERS UNION.
[by telegraph.—press association.] Duxedin, Thursday. At a meeting of the Executive of the Farmers' Union, a letter was received from the Railway Commissioners in reply to one by the Executive, stating that weighing by the Railway Department is for the purpose of freight, but they cannot undertake to give weights sufficiently accurato for buying and selling goods. Comments wero made on the absurdity of charging farmers for weight of chaff especially, and yet admitting that the weights were not accurate. It was decided to express regret at weights not being accurate, and to ask the Commissioners to instruct their servants to be more particular in weighing and recording. It was announced that the Executive expect to be in position shortly to issue circulars on the question of forming a Co-operative Association.
