ABBOTTS OPERA HOUSE.
At the Opera House last night tho St. MainCompany repeated their performance of " The Ironmaster" to a fair audience. The production was again an excellent one, and the interest was sustained throughout. The splendid characterisation of the title role by Mr. St. Maur was evidently greatly appreciated by the spectators, but his costuming of the part was not as well conceived as one would expect from an actor of his experience. Miss Florence Seymour invested her part of Lady Clare, in her struggles between love and pride, her frequent humiliations and mortifications, with a power, pathos, and grace that has been rarely excelled on tho Auckland stage. Mr. Stilling Duff, as Lord Ambermerc, enacted well the part of the polished roue of the present day, bub once or twice was rather laboured in his style. Miss Hettie Kennedy, as the w«ilthy American parvenu, was fairly successful, while the other characters were well filled. At the end of the second scene Mr. St. Maur and Miss Seymour were called before the curtain, while the latter received quite an ovation at the conclusion of her spirited scene with her would-be betrayer in the last act. To-night is the last occasion on which " The Ironmaster " will be played; on Monday evening the famous American drama, " Barnes of New York," will be produced, and the management have made arrangements to stage it in a very complete and finished manner. It is a very spirited play, abounding in realistic situations, and should become very popular here.
