ARRIVAL OF THE COUNTESS OF ONSLOW.
The Government despatch boat Hineraoa, Captain Fairchild, arrived yesterday forenoon from Wellington, bringing Lady Onslow, Lord Cranley, Lady Gwendoline, and Lady Dorothy, her ohildren, and Miss Constable as passengers, also some 20 servants of His Excellency Lord Onslow's suite. On the Hinemoa berthing at the Railway wharf, the party lauded and were driven up to Government House. When the Hinemoa was signalled, the Lizard gunboat, with His Excellency the Governor and Captain Savile, A.D.C., went out to meet the Hinemoa, and in the Rangitoio Channel the Lizard transferred her passengers to the Hinemoa, and stood down the Gulf for Sydney, whither she has been ordered by Admiral Lord Scott. The vice-regal party had a pleasant passage by the Hinemoa. She called at Portland Island and landed stores for the lighthouse, and also at White Island, where an opportunity was afforded of visiting this remarkable island with its sulphur deposits. , It is understood that the vice-regal party will make a prolonged stay at Auckland.
