CONFERENCE OF RACING CLUB DELEGATES. [by telegraph.— press association.] ■ , Dctnedin-, Tuesday. At the conference of delegates of racing clubs, held on Monday evening, the press were not admitted. Captain Russell presided, and the delegates were :—Auokland : Hon. E. Mitchelson. Christchurch : Messrs. G. E. Clifford, G. G. Stead, and C. H. Williams. Greymouth : Messrs. F. W. Lahman, and J. Mitchell. Wanganui: Mr. J. Paul. Duiiedin : Hon. G. McLean, Messrs. Gourley, and J. A. Cook. Mr. Wade appeared as the delegate of the Westland Club, and the chairman decided that he should be heard. After Messrs. Wade and Lahman had spoken, a resolution was carried that arbitrators be appointed, with full power to inquire into and settle the dispute between the Greymouth and Westland Clubs, as to which should be the metropolitan club of the Westland provincial district, or to alter the boundaries of the district. The committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club was requested to nominate two gentlemen to act as arbitrators, with power to call on a third, and report on or before March 1, 1890. The question of altering the rule compelling clubs holding two meetings to give £200 per diem in stakes, and making the sum £150, was lost, only the Dunedin delegates voting for the proposal. It was resolved, " That the question of altering rule 162 be referred to the Metropolitan Clubs for consideration, their opinion to be reported to the next racing Conference." It was decided to recommend the Metro- , politan Clubs to appoint delegates to the Conference at Wellington during the Session of Parliament to consider the question of the formation of a New Zealand Jockey Club and other business, The Conference also resolved that Metropolitan Clubs desiring to bring up any important alteration of rules should send notice to the other clubs one month before the date fixed.
