The programme for the summer race meeting, on the 23rd December, was drawn out, but cannot of course be published until approved by the Auckland Racing Club. A sum, however, of £200 will be given in stakes, the sum for the South Auckland Cup being £100 clear for the first horse. Mr. Laurence Cussen was elected judge, and Dr. Waddington president. The offer of Messrs. Adams and Adams for the privilege of running the totalisator was accepted. Mr. McNicol was appointed starter.
Cuirassier has been struck out of all his engagements at the Canterbury and Dunedin Jockey Club's meetings. The Now York Sportsman says that it is proposed by Mr. l. Lorillard and a few others to enclose Jerome Park with glass, light it with electricity, and use it for winter racing at night. The scheme is believed to be feasible, and estimates and plans have been contracted for.
