A SINGULAR LAND CASE.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Invercargill, Thursday. The ooly civil case in the Supreme Court vras one of some interest, a young man named Jenkinsou proceeding against Duncan Campbell for the possession of two sections in tbe centre of Invercargill, purchased by the plaintiffs father in 1860. Five years a»o Campbell applied to the Assessment Court to be registered proprietor of the land, but the town clerk objected on the f-roun'i that he knew where the sons of the ate owner were to be found. The lads recently came of age, and instructed Sir Robert Stout to prosecute a claim to the sections, now worth about £1000. Campbell contended that he had lent Jenkinson £100 on the land, and was entitled to hold it until repaid. To-day, on the case being called, it was announced that Campbell pave up all claim to the land on payment of £10, the parties paying their own costs.
