STRIKE IN THE BOOT TRADE.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Wednesday. The question of the employment of boy labour is again causing trouble in the boot trade. About 17 " finishers" withdrew today from Messrs. R. Kannah and Co. 's factory, in consequence of a difference of opinion with the principal of the firm as to the construction of the statement of agreement arrived at in settlement of the strike which occurred some twenty mouths ago. Benchineu are still at work, but are this afternoon preparing to leave as soon as they finish the jobs in hand. The men assert that in the agreement of 1887 Hannah promised to reduce the number of apprentices to the proportion of one to every four benchmen, whereas, since the new year, he has taken on several boys, and there are now in the establishment 13, to 20 journeymen.
