SUDDEN DEATH OF MR. T. BARNETT.

With regret we announce the sudden death yesterday evening, from heart disease, of Mr. Thomas Barnott. Mr. Barnctb left his place of business in Queon-streot for his residence at Remuera by the half-past six tramcar, and alighted from tho car at Nowmarket. He was walking homeward across the railway bridge when ho was seized with a severe pain, and as he could not proceed, he hailed the driver of a passing milkcart, who gave him a seat in the vehicle. Tho jolting of the cart caused him so much pain that the driver at his request pulled the horse into a walk, and also continued on the road in the direction of Mr. Barnott's house. Mr. Barnett never afterward spoke, and when the cart arrived opposite his house at half-past eight o'clock, he was found to bo unconscious. Ho was carried into the house, and Dr. Haines, who was summoned, attended, and declared that life was extinct.

The deceased suffered from heart disease, which first attacked him about twelve months ago, and was informed by Dr. Haines that his complaint was serious. At business yesterday he had two severe attacks. He was twice married, and had four sons and five daughters. Whilst Mr. Barnett resided at the Thames he was well known in volunteer circles, and was captain of a crack company, which included in its ranks Mr. A. E. Devore (the present Mayor of Auckland) and Mr. J. Coates, of tho National Bank of New Zealand.
