NEW ZEALAND WOOL SALES.
ADVANCE IN PRICES. [by TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] Ciiiustciiurch, Friday. The first series of wool sales opened this afternoon, when 1125 bales were offered. The Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, the Mortgage Agency Company, and the Farmers' Co-operative Association sold. Half-bred wool fetched S.jd to 9§d per lb ; merinos, to 9i|d ; locks and pieces, 4Jd to bid. The highest price was 9jfd, realised for first-class wool grown at Cherbey. Competition was spirited, and prices were a penny per lb. • better than last year's opening sales.
