THE IRISH VOTE. [press association.] New York, August 26. Patrick Ford, editor of the New York Irish World, has transferred his allegiance from the Democratic party to the Republicans. The Freetrade Press has in consequence published a damaging attack on Mr. Ford, in which the latter is accused of deserting his regiment during the American Civil War. This statement, it is considered, will destroy Ford's influence in the Presi< dential contest.
