ABYSSINIA AND RUSSIA. [PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Berlin, August 23. The German press assert that Signor Crispi's note to M. Goblet, the French Minister of War, on the Massowah difficulty resembled a memorandum to excite war. Rome, August 23. It is reported that the Italian Government will shortly organise a new expedition to be despatched to Abyssinia. St. Petersburg, August 23. The statement that Abyssinia had offered to cede an island in the Red Sea to Russia, provided the latter sent a military inspector to Abyssinia, is denied. Paris, August 25. M. Goblet, French Minister of War, has referred the question of the Italian annexation of Massowah to the Great Powers.
