A NEW ZEALAND VOLUNTEER IN INDIA.
[BY telegraph.—l'RESS ASSOCIATION. J Wellington, Saturday. Lieutenant Andrews, of the Devonshire Regiment;, formerly of the first battalion of Canterbury volunteers, has sent to his old volunteer captain an interesting letter of his success in India. He is now desirous of joining a cavalry regiment, but being" over age the advice of the New Zealand Government is invoked. Mr Fergus, Defence Minister, has.been most anxious to assist the lieutenant, and the officials of the Defence Office have had the papers laid before His Excellency the Governor, and yesterday Mr. Joyce was asked to attend at Government House when His Excellency, who took great trouble some two years ago in getting Canterbury volunteers into an Indian regiment, minutely detailed the course which must be taken, and states that it will afford him great pleasure to be of any service to Lieutenant Andrews.
