Sir. Alex, aitken's Weekly Market Report for the past week.—Supplies* of produce have been heavy, and demand fair. Poultry was in smaller supply than usual, and, owing to wet weather, that to hand did not show to advantage. Prices were satisfactory. Rabbits were also in the same state, and sold low ; altogether too many being sent to town. Potatoes; Prices have not reached expectations. The market is very unsettled. Southerns cannot be imported under £4 12s, while they can be purchased here at a much lower figure. Owing to the present state of the market, it is not considered advisable to rise the price of local grown at present. A rise was put on in the beginning of the week, but the demand fell away, and they had to be put back to late figures. Butter is slightly on the increase, K»gs very numerous. Decline in value. Bacon and hams met with better demand, but no improvement in price. Cheese: No alteration. No really good to hand. Fruit : But little to hand. Prices were better two weeks ago.
