London] August 13. Cardinal Moran, speaking at Kildare, ■said that through the wisdom of colonial statesmen, Imperial role became the symbol of peace throughout Australia.
INDIAN PATRIOTIC SOCIETY: Calcutta, August 13. An Indian Patriotic Society is being formed for fche purpose of opposing the action of the National Congress.
MR. PARNELL AND COERCION.
London, August 13. Mr. Chamberlain has written a letter to the Times to prove that Mr. Parneil was formerly willing to assent to the policy of coercion, including change of venue, and private inquiry in the case of outrages, and the paying of compensation to those who suffered by agrarian murders.
A ROYAL CONVERT.
London, August 13. It is alleged that H.R.H. Princess Christian of Schleswig - Holstein, daughter of Her Majesty, will shortly become a convert to Romanism. Her tendencies; towards the Roman Catholic Church have long been known, but it is said that His Holiness the Pope was not aware of her intention.

THE PARIS-CONSTANTINOPLE RAILWAY.
Paris, August 13. The line of railway from Constantinople to Paris has been opened.
THE PAN-ANGLICAN CONFERENCE. London, x\ugust 14. At the Pan-Anglican Conference, it was decided that the next meeting be held in America.
THE WAR IN TIBET.
Calcutta, August 13. Information has been received that 15,000 Tibetan troops have occupied the Makulato Pass. * The British reinforcements are also reported to be advancing on that position.
NEW ZEALAND LAND SETTLEMENT.
London, August 13. Messrs. Rees and Wi Pere are petitioning the Government for aid in carrying out tlieir scheme of colonisation on the East Coast of the North Isiand of New Zealand. The petition was presented in the House of Commons by Mr. Broadhurst, the member for Nottingham.
ITALY IN AFRICA. Cairo, August 13. The Khedive of Egypt.has protested against the annexation by Italy of Massowah and Zulla.
