London, August 3. The match, Australian eleven v. an eleven of England, postponed from yesterday, was begun ab Hastings to-day. The Australians went first to the wickets, and at the luncheon adjournment had lost 7 wickets for 99 runs. In the match against the Eleven of England the Australians made 168 in their first innings, the highest scorers being McDonnell (.%), Lyons (32), and Jarvis (2,3). The English Eleven were unable to stand against the bowling of Turner, and the last wicket fell with the small total of 53. The local team therefore had to follow on, and have lost one wicket for six runs. In the first innings Turner secured eight wickets for 13 runs. The wicket played slow, and was in favour of the bowlers. London, August 5. _ In the cricket match against the Australians, the Eleven of England made only 88 in their second innings, the Australians thus winning by an innings and 27 runs. In the second innings of the local men Shilling was the highest scorer with 28 not out. Turner was almost unplayable, and nine wickets fell to him for 37 runs. The attendance was small andifthe weather cloudy.
