FOOTBALL.

THE NATIVE MATCH.

j Great interest is being manifested concerning Saturday's match, and the choosing of the Auckland team was anxiously awaited yesterday. The selection com mittee met in the evening, and put down the following names as those who are to compose the final fifteen : — Fullback, T. Brown; three-quarters, C. Madigan, E. McCausland, and R. Masefield ; halves, W. Elliott, A. Braund, H. Stephenson ; forwards, T. O'Connor, O. Wells, C. Marshall, H. Poland, W. Hobson, R. McKenzie, J. Lecky, and R. Crowe ; emergencies, J. Arneil, P. Mackie, F. Twiname, E. Mills. The team is considered as good as could be picked under the present' circumstances, though many question the wisdom of placin? Madigan in so recently after his accident. He states that he is thoroughly recovered, and certainly, is very fit. Brown is also looked upon wit! some little suspicion as a fullback, but he will probably acquit himself worthily. The newly-chosen fifteen will meet to-night at the Imperial Hotel, to elect a captain and arrange other details. Warbrick's Fifteen had a practice yesterday afternoon in the Metropolitan Ground, and some first-class work was done. Mr. Warbrick will choose the fifteen that he intends to place in the field on Saturday during to-day. The selection will be somewhat heavier than the local team, as the. following are the weights scaled by the visitors —G. Williams, 14st 101b ; Stewart, 14st 101b; Nehua, 13st 101b; A. Webster, 13st 71b ; Ihimaira, 13st Gib ; Arthur Warbrick, 13st 101b; Lee, 13st; Wi Karawia, 13st; Anderson, 12st 101b; R. Maynard, 12st 101b; G. Wynyard, 12st 101b; Alf.
