INJURED FOOTBALLERS.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —I notice in this morning's edition of your valuable paper a paragraph stating that a subscription list is about to. be opened in aid of Madigan, who was unfortunately injured in the football match on the 24th inst.,. the promoters of which are worthy of every commendation for their efforts to give practical expression to their sympathy with him in his unfortunate position. But why not include another of the team, viz., R. Whiteside, who was injured in a like manner in the previous match, and who after that injury continued in his place, and only desisted from playing from sheer pain and exhaustion, though frequently asked to do so by his comrades,' and who has been disabled and is still unable to follow his employment. _ Hoping my suggestion will have dae weight with the promoters of the above, I am, &c, Auckland, May 28, 1888. Sympathy.,
