THE MINERS' REPRESENTATIVES. London, April 9. The Northumberland miners who contribute to the maintenance of their parliamentary representatives, have again held a ballot, with the result that it has been decided to continue the payments to Messrs. Burt and Fenwick, the members respectively for Morpeth and Wansbeck. THE GOLD DISCOVERY IN WALES. London, April 9. In the House of Commons Mr. W. H. Smith, First Lord of the .Treasury, replying to Mr. Hugh Watt, M.P. for Camlachie (Glasgow), said that the gold recently discovered in Wales was found on ground belonging to the Crown, and that steps were being taken to secure the right of working the ground. AMERICA AND MOROCCO. London, April 9. The dispute between the American Government and the authorities in Morocco lias been referred to arbitration. THE PROPOSED WINE TAX. London, April 9. The French and German papers are suggesting reprisals in the event of the tax on bottled wines being agreed to. Paris, April 9. M. Felix Faure is protesting strongly against the proposed tax on bottled wine, on the ground that other coun tries may, if the tax is agreed to, find it necessary to have recourse to repri sals.
