The deaths of persons not residents of boroughs occurring at tiio Hospitals have been excluded in all cases. The total births in the above boroughs amounted to 401, against 414 in Nov., a decrease of 43. The .deaths in Dec. were 1 IS, a decrease of 36 on the number for November. Of tho total deaths, males contributed 04, and females 54. Fifty of the deaths were <>i children under live years of age, being 42.37 per cent, of the whole number. OF THE GOVERNOR. H. M.s. Nelson, Calliope, Rapid, and Diamond sailed for Sydney at half-past eleven a.m. on Jan. IG. The Governor left in the Nelson to be present at tho Centenary celebration of New South Wales. A Gazette is3uetl that evening appoints Sir James Prenderpast Deputy (iovernor of New Zealand durirg the absence of Ilie Excellency, Sir W. Jervois. In a day or two Major Jervois, goes up conntry on leave, and in Iris absence Captain Medley, K.N., will perform the duties of A. KG and private secretary to the Acting Governor. Hon. Lieutenant Fortencue, A.D.C., accompanied the Governor to Sydney.
