No. 2 Battalion' : Presentation ok the District Belt. The first parade for the present year of the No. '2 battalion was held ou Tuesday night, the 17th January, at tho Drill-shed. LieutenantColonel Dignan was in command, and alter some battalion drill the companies were formed in square. Lieutenant-Colonel Diguan then presented to Sergeant Theo. Fairs, of the Victoria Rilles, the district belt won by him at the recent competition. Here marked on the fact that this was the second occasion on which Sergeant Fairs had won the belt, and if ho won it again it would be his own property. This belt has now been competed for lor some lli years, although the conditions are that to becomo the private property of any individual it must be won twice in succession, or threo times at intervals ; and the fact that during that time it lias never been won exclusively, shows how keen the competition for it has-been.
