SAD DEATH OF A BOY.
KILLED BY FALLING ON A PEN-
KNIFE.
A Coroner's* inquest on the body of Benjamin Richard Brown, son of Mr. Brown of the Tuakau Hotel, who, as was stated in our Saturday's impression, met with a fatal accident on Friday morning, was held in the hotel the same afternoon, beforo Captain Jackson, Coroner, and a jury of six, of whom Mr. Widgery was foreman. Fredk. Brown, brother of the deceased, who was with him at the time, gave the principal evidence. Mrs. Evans, Dr. Rowley, and the father of the deceased also gave evidence, from which it appeared that the little fellow was helping his brother to catch a fowl, and in tho excitement of the chase he shifted a pocketknife which was open from his right hand to his left, for the purpose of throwing a stone at tho fowl, standing at the time in a deep rut in the road. Turning round quickly for tho purpose of throwing the stone, ho tripj>ed and tell on the knife, which pierced his chest, severing the large arteries at the base of the heart, causing instant death. Great sympathy is felt for tho bereaved parents, and great regret for the untimely end of this little fellow who was a universal favourite. The jury returned a verdict of "Accidental death."
