(reciter's TELEGRAM 5.] THE VICTORIAN SPEAKERSHIP. Melbourne, September 23. It is expected that the Hon. T. Dent and Mr. Davies will be candidates for the Speakership of the Assembly. FATAL ACCIDENT. Sydney, September 23. A {rain motor, whilst conveying coal to-day, ran off the line near Moore Park. The driver was killed, and the fireman seriously injured. POSTAL CONFERENCE. Melbourne, September 23. The Governments of South Australia, Victoria, and New South Wales have agreed to the proposal for w conference of Postmasters-General to be held in Adelaide, commencing on November 7. New Zealand will be invited to send a representative. Amongst the questions to be discussed are those affectjng cable subsidies, intercolonial postal, reciprocity, and parcel post.

Sydney, September 23. New Zealand wneat is unchanged at 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; New Zealand oats, "_s lOd to 2s 2d; maize, '"s 9d to 3s lid.
Adelaide, September The demand for wheat is limited at 3s 7£d. Flour is dull at the following prices :—Town flour, £9 5s to £9 10a ; country brands, £8 5a to £8 ? os.
