The applicants further state that they have been prospecting for the past three months. About a week ago they came across a large reef, which gave good mortar prospects, and which they estimate to be worth five or six ounces to the ton. I am informed that the assay tests were very satisfactory, both in gold and silver Mr. Samuel Turtle has applied for a licensed holding of Iβ acres, which he has named the Brogan, on the southern side of the Gold water. Brogan caused a rash to Whangamata several years ago, but the alleged find proved a duffer.
