A VILLAGE FESTIVAL.

[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRKSS ASSOCIATION. J Nelson, Wednesday. A jobilee village festival opened this afternoon in the grounds of Mr. Martin Lightband and of Mr. Lijihtband, sen., who for forty-five years has resided here. The receipts are to go to the Cathedral church funds. There are a number of shows with Maypole dance, etc., whilst at night the grounds are illuminated by electric light and innumerable incandescent lamps, the effect being excellent. Mr. Edgar Aehcroft, of Wellington, who undertook the lighting, has been very successful, and so far the festival has been largely attended.
