(BYTELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.! Wellington, Thursday. A match was fired to-day between the Auckland and Wellington Artillery, nine men a side, and resulted in a win for Auckland by 24 points. The ranges were 200, 300, and 500 yards, seven shots at each range. The weather was fine, but windy. The Wellington range is very bad for good shooting, not to be compared with Mount Eden. The Auckland scores were: —Payne, 74; Parslow, 72 ; Hodgkinson, 70; Lumsden, 64; Webster, 61 YouDghusband, 53 ; Brooks, 51 ; Woolley, 45 ; James, 44 : total, 434. Wellington scores:—Webb, 68 ; Mcßedie, 65 ; Kutchen, 61; Scott, 60 Gray, 5S ; Hylands, 57 ; Howe, 53; Jeffreys, 50; Robinson, 40 : total: 410. Most of the Wellington team had to give up work to fire the match. Captain McCredie compliments the Auckland men on beating them on their own range. The Wellington Artillery provided ammunition. The Auckland team and Auokland representatives are enjoying themselves here very much, many of their names being put on the books of the different clubs as visiting members. The Wellington people are doing their best to make their stay pleasant. The Hinemoa arrived this morning, and leaves with the Northern representatives to-morrow at midnight. All the Auckland men are going in for hard practice. Christchdkch, Thursday. Captain Wilkinson (South Dunedin), Lieutenant Oakenden (Peninsula Navals), and Private Hughos (Wanganui) tested Kynock's ammunition at Kaiapoi Range with satisfactory result?. Firing seven shots each at 200, 300, and 500 yards, the total scores ranged from 71, Sommerville, to 67. No bullet fell short, and all pronounced the ammunition equal to any they bad fired, except, perhaps, that which the English Government issued in 1879, which was the best ever used in the colony. -
