For m iny years his people hare placed implicit reliance on him. Now several of : his erstwhile most faithful adherents. openly state that if Te Whiti's prophecy about the restoration of the land is not soon fulfilled they will throw him over. The natives on this coast are not likely to offer violence to Te Whit* when they are finally undeceived, but not unlikely he will find it advisable to leave Taranaki altogether before many months, and <;ake up his residence with his relations at Petone, where he has resided while 'at ■ liberty in Wellingtons , ::// -
