THE AUSTRALIANS DEFEATED. [reoter*s telegram.] Melbourne, December 22. The cricket match, Shaw-Lillywhite's team v. the Australian Eleven, continued to-day. The visitors' second innings closed for 264 runs, the highest scorers being Sherwin (caught) 25, Loughnan (not out) 30. The Australians, who required 172 runs to win the match, then went to the wickets, but failed to make the necessary total, the innings closing for 114. The following were the scores :—Jones, bowled, 0 ; Palmer, run out, 1; Jarvis, bowled, 3; Trumble, caught, 25 ; Mcllwraith, run out, 12 ; Trott, run out, 13 Garrett, caught, 12 ; Evans, not out, 2. The visitors thus won the match by 57 runs,
