ARRIVAL OF THE TONGARIRO.

The N.Z.S.Co.'s B.M. s.s. Tongariro came Into harbour at about 2.30 o'clock this morning, from London, Plymouth, Madeira, Capetown, Dunedin, and Wellington, after a very smart voyage. In the shape of oargo tha steamer bring* 2000 tons, of which 300 tons •are for Dun* •din, 660 tons for Wellington, 800 tons for ▲nokland and 750 tons for Lyttelton. Of the passage we learn that the Tongariro left Plymouth after embarking her passengers and ,267, bag* of mails, at 2 p.m., 25th September. Experienced light winds and fine weather to Madeira, arriving at 9.40 a.m., 29th September, and, after coaling, left again at 4 p.m. Experienced light N.E. trades and fine weather crossing the Equator in B*Bo W., 6th October; from thence to B*o S., light S.E. trades remainder of passage to Gape Town strong trades with high sea, arriving at 3.30 a.m. Oct. 15. After coaling and provisioning ship left again at 2 p.m. same day. From the Cape to New Zealand experienced moderate to strong westerly winds and fine weather, passing the Snares at 3.30 p.m. November S, and arriving off Otago Heads as above. Steaming time from the Cape. 19 days 7 hours. The Tongariro brought 256 passengers from London, 50 are first and sooond, and 165 steerage, 135 being for Port Chalmers and Lyttelton, and the remainder for Northern ports. After landing passengers and mails at Dunedin, the Tongariro proceeded on to Wellington, and there also landed passengers and mails, starting again at 6.30. a.m. on Saturday last, and arriving here as above, fine weather pre" vailing during the run up the coast. Associated with Captain Bone is Mr Findly as ohief officer, Mr Bloxam second officer, and Mr. N. W. Burllnson purser. The Tongariro was berthed at the Railway Wharf soon after her arrival for the purpose of landing her cargo, etc. She is expected to resume her passage to Southern porta again to-morrow evening.
